This section is to share news and information about swords and sword related subjects. I live in the Midwest USA. I travel to national and regional shows. I am including a list of upcoming events where Japanese swords can, or may, be found for sale. I invite comments and additional information. NEWS UPDATE:

The last sword show was Las Vegas. The show was well attended. There were more tables than last year. It is different from regular sword shows as you have the sword section but additionally well over 1500 tables of other antique arms that include Nihonto. There is plenty to see and buy/sell/trade.  Mike Yamasaki heads up educational presentations and demonstrations on Saturday. I also attended the OVMS SOS in Louisville. This year the date changed from usual and weather was a big issue, even with those challenges the show seemed to do well. There may have been a few less tables due to weather but there was good attendance and there were a lot of swords on tables.  

Upcoming Shows:

March 20-22, 2026 Baltimore Antique Arms Show http://www.baltimoreshow.com/ The show specializes in  antique pistols, rifles and US swords but there are Japanese sword dealers set up and you will find swords on other tables. The show draws a large number of attendees so you never know what will show up. This show is located in a major eastern city and is worth a visit if you are in the area.

April 24- 26, 2026 Midwest Token kai, Chicago Sword Show at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg IL. There will be a special educational display and lecture by the N.B.T.H.K. AB worth the trip if you like Goto fittings. Over 100 tables with Swords, tsuba, fittings, armor, and other sword and samurai related items.  You can see and handle hundreds of swords, ask experts questions, learn a lot in a short time. http://www.chicagoswordshow.com

June 26-28, 2026 Orlando Sword show. I have attended past shows, and plan to be there this year. The venue is easy to get to. The hotel is comfortable and the show staff does a great job. They always have a number of demonstrations and presentations.   https://orlandoswordshow.com/

July 31-August 2, 2026 San Francisco CA Token Kai S.F. Airport Marriott. This is a great show. There are over 100 tables of swords, tsuba, and other items to be seen and purchased. There are educational lectures and exhibits. Attending is an opportunity to see swords in hand, ask questions, and build your knowledge. http://www.ncjsc.org

January 22-23, 2027 This is a year away but mark the date. The Las Vegas sword show, held in conjunction with the huge Las Vegas Antique Arms show. Plan early to attend. https://www.vegasswordshow.com/
